More professional organisations seem to rise to the call to help Rivers State find its feet again, after political disturbances that may have injured the state’s reputation capital and set its growth back.
While the investment promotion agency and other government agencies seem to rev up the engine, other entrepreneurial and professional bodies are also mounting activities that have helped to bring back confidence in the state.
Now, the Rivers State Branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) has announced plans for the 27th edition of its Annual State Conference, a flagship gathering designed to shape conversations around the future of work and organisational sustainability.
Scheduled to hold as a hybrid event in Port Harcourt, the conference is said to be set to bring together participants through both virtual and physical engagements under the theme: “Work, Workforce & Workplace: Driving Agile and Sustainable Organizations.”
The announcement was made by Catherine Kadiri, chairperson of the Rivers State Branch, Catherine Kadiri, along with Oreiji Uduma, the vice chairperson, who is also the chairman of the conference planning committee. Uduma has already described the conference as a strategic platform for addressing the evolving dynamics of today’s workplace.
According to the organisers, the conference would convene human resource professionals, business owners, administrators, chief executives, people managers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and industry leaders to examine emerging workplace realities and explore innovative strategies for building agile, resilient, and sustainable organisations capable of thriving in an increasingly complex business environment.
The virtual sessions of the conference are scheduled for July 8 and 9, 2026, while the grand physical gathering would take place on July 10, 2026, in Port Harcourt.
Reflecting on the impact of previous editions, the organisers disclosed that the last conference attracted over 250 human resource professionals and featured an array of distinguished speakers and thought leaders.
Among them were Adeyemi Ajayi, National Treasurer of CIPM; Isaac Zeb-Obipi, Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University; Godswill Eke, Immediate Past Chairman of the CIPM Rivers State Branch; Henry Unuakpor, former Vice President of CIPM; and Patrick Ekadi, Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
With other lined ups expected in the 2026 edition, members said the 27th State Conference promises to deliver thought-provoking discussions, practical insights, and valuable networking opportunities aimed at equipping organisations and professionals to navigate the rapidly evolving world of work.
