Irked by the spate of kidnappings of children of school age for ransom in Nigeria and its disturbing effects on the brain of the kidnapped, their parents and guardians, a fiery reverend has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to, as a matter of urgency, collaborate with the international community to rescue all the kidnapped school children and others abducted in various places in the country.
Eric Onunji, a reverend and general overseer, True Believers Assembly Church, Nnorie in Ngor/Okpala Local Government Area, Imo State, said that the collaboration with the international community would help to stem the rising crime of kidnappings and abductions for ransom going on in the country.
In his sermon titled “Freedom for the Captives”, with pains and groans, he said”, President Bola Tinubu and his government should collaborate with the international community to rescue the kidnapped school children and release them to their parents.
“We are crying for what is happening in Nigeria. Our leaders are keeping quiet, and our school children are being kidnapped.
“President Tinubu should do something reasonable; he should collaborate with the international community to rescue our children. Let the world come and help Nigeria; we need freedom, our children need freedom. Our hearts are broken.
“Where are our school children? They are the leaders of tomorrow. Where are they? In the bush suffering under rain and sun, many of them are dead, and many have been killed.
“I am speaking as an oracle of God, may their right of freedom be given to them, let them be freed and rejoin with their families, they have the right to live and exist”.
Meanwhile, Onunji has attributed the misplacement of priorities by the Federal Government as the major reason for the lingering security challenges facing the nation.
“Insecurity is making the nation bleed, because the Federal Government is misplacing priorities in their leadership approaches.
“And if the Federal Government is sincere in stopping banditry, killings, kidnappings and terrorism in the country, they know what to do. If the insecurity challenges are checked, those evil people can be tracked using trackers, drones, among others”.
