Sonny Iroche, founder and chief executive officer of GenAI Learning Concepts Ltd., has urged senior executives and emerging industry leaders to embrace artificial intelligence, continuous learning, and adaptability as critical leadership skills in today’s rapidly changing business environment.

Iroche made the call in a keynote address at an executive orientation programme hosted by Docenti Global Business School to welcome new cohort of executives, entrepreneurs, and business leaders recently.

He warned that traditional management approaches developed for relatively stable business environments were no longer sufficient to ensure organisational growth and long-term competitiveness.

Iroche, an Oxford-trained specialist in Artificial Intelligence for Business, explained how data-driven decision-making, remote operations, and AI technologies are reshaping leadership and executive decision-making across industries.

“Markets punish stagnation. The professionals who survive are not necessarily the smartest. They are usually the most adaptable. Your competitive advantage is no longer your degree. Your competitive advantage is your ability to continuously reinvent yourself,” he said.

Highlighting the growing importance of AI in business leadership, he added: “AI will not replace leaders, but leaders using AI may replace leaders who do not.”

He further emphasised that artificial intelligence was becoming a foundational business capability rather than simply another technology tool.

“Artificial Intelligence is not simply technology. AI is becoming infrastructure.”

According to Iroche, executives must strengthen their technological literacy, expand strategic networks, and view learning as a lifelong commitment rather than a one-time academic achievement.

While organisations continue to improve efficiency through digital transformation, he noted that professional reputation, trust, and authentic relationships remain essential drivers of sustainable business growth.

Iroche also outlined a strategic roadmap for modern executives, emphasising the value of executive education as a platform for networking, collaboration, and leadership development among business leaders, investors, board members, and future CEOs.

“The future belongs to people who combine disciplines,” he said.

He encouraged professionals to integrate expertise across fields such as law and AI, finance and analytics, or business strategy and technology to increase their relevance and long-term career value.

He stressed that AI is fundamentally reshaping decision-making across industries and warned that executives who fail to understand its implications risk falling behind in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Rather than replacing human leadership, he argued, AI will accelerate a shift in which leaders who understand and effectively use the technology gain a significant advantage over those who do not.

The event also highlighted Docenti Global Business School’s growing role in executive education in Nigeria and across Africa. The institution provides access to internationally relevant business education, leadership development, and professional networking opportunities for executives and entrepreneurs without requiring them to study abroad.

Speaking on the school’s vision and expansion, Executive Principal, Prof. Humphrey Akanazu emphasised the importance of creating accessible pathways to world-class education.

“The education sector is not just about learning; it’s about creating pathways for people to grow without losing their roots or their livelihoods,” he said.

“Blending global standards with local realities creates opportunities for Nigerians to earn world-class qualifications without leaving home.”

As the programme concluded, participants were encouraged to approach the next phase of their professional development with purpose, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Delivering a final charge to the incoming cohort, Akanazu stated:

“As you begin this journey, remember: You are not simply enrolling in a programme. You are repositioning yourself. The world does not reward credentials alone. The world rewards relevance. Challenge assumptions. Build relationships. Develop courage. Understand technology. Stay adaptable.”
