Jerry Adams, the executive chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), has disclosed that Kaduna State is targeting a monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of ₦20 billion as ongoing fiscal reforms continue to boost taxpayer confidence and revenue performance across the state.
Adams made the disclosure Today while receiving a delegation from the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, which paid him a courtesy visit and conferred on him the title of Grand Patron of the association.
The KADIRS chairman revealed that in the past three years the state’s monthly IGR has grown significantly from an average of ₦4 billion in 2023 to about ₦9 billion currently, attributing the increase to reforms aimed at improving tax administration and enhancing public trust in government.
According to the revenue boss, taxpayers are becoming more willing to fulfil their civic obligations because they can see tangible evidence of government investments in critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare.
” The administration of Governor Uba Sani has remained committed to ensuring that resources generated from taxation are translated into projects that directly impact the lives of citizens.”
Adams noted that KADIRS would continue to pursue policies that encourage voluntary tax compliance while protecting taxpayers from multiple taxation and other forms of exploitation.
He stressed that revenue generation should not be viewed as a burden on citizens but as a collective responsibility that enables government to provide essential services and drive sustainable development.
He also expressed appreciation for the honour bestowed on him by the association, describing it as a recognition of the important role played by non-indigenes in the economic growth and social development of Kaduna State.
He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to inclusive governance, saying every resident, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or regional background, has a stake in the development of Kaduna State.
Earlier, the Co-Convener of the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, Mr. Johnny Nwankwere, formally presented Adams with a letter of confirmation and the association’s flag, signifying his appointment as Grand Patron.
Nwankwere described the KADIRS chairman as a visionary and reform-oriented administrator whose leadership has transformed tax administration in the state.
He commended the agency’s efforts in reducing incidences of multiple taxation and tax-related harassment, noting that such reforms have contributed significantly to improving the relationship between taxpayers and government.
The association also pledged its support for the state’s revenue generation drive through public enlightenment campaigns and grassroots mobilisation across communities.
Leading the delegation was the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani on Support Groups, Abdulsamad Chima Amadi, who reiterated the importance of collaboration between government institutions and community-based organisations in advancing development objectives.
Members of the delegation praised Governor Uba Sani for ongoing developmental projects across the state, particularly the construction of vocational and skills acquisition centres in Soba, Rigachikun, and Samaru Kataf.
According to them, the projects are expected to create opportunities for youth empowerment, vocational training, and economic self-reliance among residents.
The group pledged continued support for the governor’s administration and promised to mobilise support for government policies and programmes at the grassroots level.
The visit, which was attended by members of the KADIRS management team, underscored the growing partnership between government institutions and community stakeholders in promoting revenue generation, citizen engagement, and inclusive development in Kaduna State
