Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) on Wednesday launched Rev360, a new digital tax administration platform designed to modernise tax collection, improve compliance, and streamline taxpayer engagement as the agency accelerates its shift toward a fully integrated, technology-driven system.

The launch in Abuja marks a key milestone in the NRS’s broader Tax Administration 3.0 reform agenda, which seeks to reduce administrative bottlenecks, enhance transparency, and improve the efficiency of revenue mobilisation across Nigeria’s expanding tax base.

Officials at the event said the platform represents a structural upgrade to how taxpayers interact with the government, particularly in registration, filing, payments and compliance management.

Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman, NRS, said Rev360 is central to the agency’s transformation strategy and reflects a shift towards a more intelligent and responsive tax system aligned with global best practices.

“Rev360 represents a transformational platform that supports our transition to Tax Administration 3.0,” he said, adding that it would strengthen compliance management, improve service delivery and simplify taxpayer interactions across all channels.

He said the platform is designed to reduce friction in tax processes while enabling a more data-driven approach to administration, noting that it would help the agency respond more effectively to the evolving needs of businesses and individuals. According to him, the long-term objective is to build a modern revenue system that is efficient, transparent and responsive to economic realities.

Taiwo Oyedele, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the exonomy said digital transformation in tax administration is now essential to strengthening fiscal stability and improving investor confidence.

“Digital platforms such as Rev360 are critical to strengthening revenue administration, improving the ease of doing business, enhancing investor confidence, and supporting the federal government’s economic reform agenda,” he said, adding that technology-driven systems are increasingly the backbone of modern economies and are vital to building transparent and predictable fiscal environments.

He said improved tax technology would help Nigeria close efficiency gaps in revenue collection while also supporting broader reforms aimed at stabilising public finances and encouraging private sector investment.

The new system is designed to simplify taxpayer experience, particularly for medium and emerging businesses that make up a large share of Nigeria’s productive economy.

Bolaji Akintola, Executive Director, Medium and Emerging Taxpayers Group at NRS said Rev360 represents the first phase of a wider transformation aimed at improving how taxpayers interact with the service.
“Taxpayers rarely judge a revenue administration by its policies alone,” she said. “They judge it by their experience, by how easy it is to register, how quickly they can file their returns, how efficiently payments are processed, and how responsive support channels are when they have issues.”

She said the platform was developed in response to rising expectations from businesses that increasingly demand the same speed and convenience from public institutions that they experience in the private sector.

According to her, Rev360 integrates key tax functions into a single system to reduce complexity and improve visibility across taxpayer obligations.
Akintola added that the platform enhances onboarding, filing, payment processing, compliance monitoring and support services, while also strengthening engagement between taxpayers and the revenue authority. She said the goal is to create a more predictable and supportive tax environment that encourages voluntary compliance.

“What excites us most about Rev360 is not merely its technological capability but its practical impact on taxpayers,” she said.

Iniabasi Akpan, Director of Technology at the NRS, said the platform has already onboarded about 600,000 taxpayers, indicating early traction ahead of full-scale deployment.

He said the system makes tax payments faster, simpler and more convenient, which he expects will drive higher voluntary compliance.
“If people can pay easily, they can pay faster, conveniently from the comfort of their offices and their home,” he said, adding that improved accessibility is central to improving compliance outcomes.

The event also featured a documentary tracing the evolution of tax administration in Nigeria from manual, fragmented processes to a more integrated and digital system.

A panel session themed “Designed by Us, Used by All” brought together operational users, support teams and platform administrators who discussed implementation challenges, system readiness, stakeholder engagement and lessons from deployment.

Panelists particularly spoke to how the Rev360 reflects the NRS broader commitment to innovation, digital transformation and continuous improvement as it works to build a more efficient and data-driven revenue administration system aligned with Nigeria’s economic reform priorities.

They also highlighted the initial teething challenges which they assured would ease over time, and the importance of collaboration in ensuring successful adoption of the platform across different taxpayer segments.

The NRS also showcased its integrated support structure, including a command centre, customer service group, operations teams and IT service management units, designed to provide real-time assistance, resolve issues and ensure continuous system performance.
