Jim Nwobodo, former governor of old Anambra State, joined political leaders and stakeholders from Enugu East Senatorial District at the Enugu East Zonal Mega Rally held at Okpara Square, Enugu on Saturday in endorsing Peter Mbah Enugu, the State Governor for a second term in office.

The rally attracted thousands of participants from the six local government areas that make up the senatorial district.

Local government chairmen, many of whom were recently re-elected for a second term, attended alongside their supporters in what organisers described as a demonstration of solidarity and appreciation for the governor’s development agenda.

The gathering also witnessed the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, with residents, stakeholders and party supporters from across the zone expressing confidence in both leaders.

Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly and National Assembly representatives from the zone moved motions endorsing Governor Mbah for re-election.

The motions were adopted without objection, reflecting what speakers described as a broad consensus among political leaders and stakeholders in the district.

Addressing the rally, Kingsley Ude, who represented President Tinubu, and several prominent leaders, including Ken Nnamani former Senate President, Jim Nwobodo, and Ben Nwoye, APC Deputy National Chairman (South), commended Mbah’s performance in office.

They highlighted Mbah’s achievements in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, security, economic growth and public sector reforms, describing the governor’s administration as transformative.

One major highlight of the event was the presentation of the traditional power of leadership (Ofor) by traditional rulers from Enugu East Zone.

The sacred symbol of Igbo authority and legitimacy, which represents justice, truth, ancestral legitimacy and moral uprightness, was bestowed on Mbah as a reaffirmation of their confidence in his leadership.

The traditional rulers also renewed the blessings associated with the Ofor, noting that it was first presented to the governor three years ago.

In another symbolic gesture of support, the Enugu East Zonal Mega Rally Planning Committee, chaired by Okey Ogbodo, the Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, presented a cheque of N300 million to support the governor’s re-election campaign.

Mbah, in his response, expressed gratitude to the people of Enugu East Senatorial District for their continued support and confidence in his administration.

He assured residents across Enugu East, Enugu North and Enugu West Senatorial Zones that his government would continue to prioritise the developmental needs of every part of the state.

Reaffirming his administration’s vision, the governor said his mission remained focused on bringing opportunities closer to the people through sustained investments in infrastructure, technology, education, agriculture, security, enterprise development and uninterrupted electricity supply.

He also disclosed that plans were underway to flag off a coal-fired power project aimed at strengthening power generation and supporting economic activities across the state.

Governor Mbah further expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and partnership with Enugu State, urging party members and residents to continue supporting the president and candidates of the ruling party in future elections.
