The Oyo State Police Command, in collaboration with the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) and other tactical units, has arrested two principal suspects linked to the June 3 abduction of Adegoke Olaide Busayo and her 11-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul. The victims are related to Adebayo Adelabu, the immediate past Minister of Power.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of two facilitators and the neutralisation of two armed members of the criminal syndicate.
The suspects currently in custody include the principal operatives, Wale Abolalewa, also known as “Oloro,” and Dare Oyedele, known as “Solution”. Abolalewa was already on the command’s watchlist for similar criminal activities.
The two additional suspects, identified as Semiu Ishola, 39, and Adeyemi Ayobami, 35, were arrested for allegedly contracting and facilitating the use of the criminal hideout in the Lado community, Ayegun, Ibadan.
Coordinated Intelligence Tracking and Rescue Operation
The victims were abducted at Elewura Street, Off Ring Road, Ibadan, whilst the mother was conveying her children to school. The armed suspects operated in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla.
Upon receiving the report, tracking teams launched an intelligence-driven manhunt following directives from the Inspector-General of Police.
Sustained surveillance and subsequent interrogation of Abolalewa led investigators to Oyedele, establishing a critical link within the gang’s operational structure.
A detailed analysis of digital footprints revealed that the syndicate had conducted structured surveillance on the family since May 2026.
The gang initially attempted to recruit an insider within the household through a family staff member identified as Segun, before shifting tactics to a direct abduction.
Armed Confrontation at the Syndicate Hideout
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., tactical teams stormed the identified hideout in Ibadan. Upon the arrival of the operatives, a lookout identified as “Kelechi,” who had travelled from Lagos State, engaged the police in a gun duel.
The tracking teams responded with superior precision, neutralising Kelechi and another unidentified member of the gang.
The kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt during the clearance operation and have been reunited with their family.

Police operatives recovered several exhibits from the scene, including three pump-action rifles, 14 live cartridges, a battle axe, a hammer, face masks, charms, substances suspected to be illicit drugs, and the operational Toyota Corolla.
State Command Seeks Community Vigilance
Addressing journalists in Ibadan on Sunday, Commissioner of Police Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga stated that the captured suspects are assisting investigators with information to apprehend fleeing syndicate members. Some of the fleeing suspects are believed to have escaped with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.
The command has urged medical practitioners, private hospital operators, and traditional bone setters to promptly report individuals presenting with suspicious gunshot wounds.
Olugbenga extended appreciation to the Oyo State Government and the police leadership for providing strategic operational support to strengthen law enforcement capabilities.
He urged residents to remain security conscious and report unusual activities within their neighbourhoods, emphasizing that timely information remains vital to effective crime prevention.
