Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, of Adamawa state, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and military personnel in the state.
In a statement issued on Friday by Humwashi Wonosikou, his Chief Press Secretary, the governor described the incident as heartbreaking and a painful loss not only to the families of the victims but also to the nation.
Governor Fintiri said the deceased were young patriots and dedicated service members who lost their lives while serving their country. He noted that their commitment and sacrifice to national service would always be remembered.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Adamawa State, I extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased, the NYSC, and the Government and people of Kaduna State, from where some of the corps members hailed,” the governor stated.
He added that the corps members and the military officer paid the ultimate price in the course of serving Nigeria, stressing that their deaths have left the state in mourning. “Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Adamawa grieves with you,” he said.
He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and asked God to grant their families, friends, the NYSC community, and the Kaduna State Government the strength to bear the painful loss.
Fintiri further directed relevant government agencies to work closely with NYSC and military authorities to ensure that necessary support is provided to the bereaved families during this difficult period.
He assured all those affected that the state government stands with them in their moment of grief and prayed for divine comfort for the mourning families and speedy recovery for those injured in the accident.
