Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has commended students sponsored under the state’s overseas scholarship programme in Turkey for their impressive academic performance, describing them as worthy ambassadors of the state and Nigeria.
Governor Fintiri gave the commendation during a visit to about 200 Adamawa students studying various master’s degree programmes at Istinye University in Istanbul, Turkey.
The visit was aimed at assessing their welfare and monitoring their academic progress under the state government’s scholarship initiative.
During the visit, the management of Istinye University praised the students for their outstanding achievements, noting that many of them have recorded excellent grades across different fields of study.
University officials said the students have demonstrated remarkable dedication, discipline, and commitment to academic excellence.
The university management also lauded the Adamawa State Government for investing in education through the scholarship programme, describing it as a strategic initiative that is already producing positive results.
According to the officials, the students have proven that the government’s investment in their education is worthwhile by maintaining high academic standards and upholding the reputation of both Adamawa State and Nigeria.
Speaking to the students, Governor Fintiri expressed satisfaction with their performance and commended them for justifying the confidence reposed in them by the government.
He explained that beneficiaries of the programme were selected strictly on merit, stressing that the initiative is part of his administration’s commitment to developing skilled manpower and empowering young people through quality education.
The governor said education remains one of the most effective tools for sustainable development and noted that the overseas scholarship programme is designed to equip students with global knowledge and professional expertise that will contribute to the growth and development of Adamawa State.
In a further boost to the programme, Fintiri announced that arrangements have been completed to sponsor another batch of 200 students to pursue master’s degree programmes in Australia and Canada under the same scholarship scheme.
He urged the students to remain focused, maintain academic excellence, and continue to serve as good ambassadors of Adamawa State and Nigeria wherever they find themselves.
The overseas scholarship programme remains one of the flagship educational initiatives of the Fintiri administration, aimed at producing highly skilled professionals capable of driving innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development across the state.
