Seven members of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), while five other lawmakers also switched parties in the latest wave of defections to hit Nigeria’s opposition parties.
The lawmakers announced their movement at the resumption of plenary on Tuesday following the just concluded party primaries ahead of 2027 elections.
The defecting lawmakers include Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, representing Ibarapa North Federal Constituency; Adedeji Stanley Olajide, representing Ibadan Northwest/Ibadan Oyo Federal Constituency; Makanjuola Sunday Ojo, representing Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency; and Najimdeen Oyeshina Oyedeji, representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency in Oyo State.
Others are Folajimi Oyekunle, representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in Oyo State; Abass Adekunle Adigun, representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency; and Auwalu Abdu Gwalabe, representing Katagum Federal Constituency in Bauchi State.

Furthermore, Etanabene Benedict, representing Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency of Delta State, defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the PDP.
Esosa Iyawe, representing Oredo Federal Constituency in Edo State, also dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the National Democratic Coalition (NDC).
Similarly, Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, representing Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa Federal Constituency of Katsina State, defected from the APC to the PDP.
Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi, representing Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency in Nasarawa State, moved from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the Labour Party.
Also, Alex Egbona, representing Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency of Cross River State, defected from the APC to the PDP.
