Sage Grey Finance Limited has awarded scholarships to five students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) under the second edition of its Undergraduate Scholarship Programme, reinforcing its focus on supporting education and youth development in Nigeria.
The award ceremony took place at the university on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, and brought together members of the university management, faculty representatives, student leaders, beneficiaries from the first edition of the programme, and the newly selected scholars.
Sage Grey Finance Limited, a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)-licensed financial institution, said the scholarship programme was created to support students with strong academic records in public tertiary institutions across the country.
Speaking at the event, Taiwo Olutunda, Impact Officer at Sage Grey Finance Limited, represented the Managing Director and spoke on the company’s vision for the initiative.
“This scholarship is not merely a financial award; it is a vote of confidence in your potential. It is an affirmation that excellence is recognized and rewarded. We encourage you to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to continuous learning. The world you are preparing to enter is highly competitive and rapidly evolving. Beyond academic success, cultivate integrity, leadership, innovation, resilience, and a strong sense of responsibility toward society,” he said.
The scholarship programme targets full-time second-year students studying selected courses in Engineering and Management Sciences. Each beneficiary receives a grant of N100,000, which is renewable every year until graduation, provided the academic requirements are maintained.
To qualify for the programme, applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0. Students already receiving scholarships from other organisations are not eligible.
The five students selected for the 2026 edition are Komolafe Olajide Abul Ramon, Shittu Mumeen Olabisi, Ejimofor Chigozirim Serena, Lampejo Eniola Sarah, and Bassey Abraham Bassey. According to the organisers, the students emerged as the highest-performing undergraduates from the Faculties of Engineering and Management Sciences at UNILAG.
Olutunda also acknowledged the role played by the university’s Guidance and Counselling Unit in the implementation of the initiative.
“We sincerely appreciate the management of the University of Lagos and, in particular, the Guidance and Counselling Unit for the collaborative relationship we have continued to maintain. This partnership demonstrates what can be achieved when institutions work together with a shared vision for youth empowerment and educational advancement,” he said.
Sage Grey Finance Limited said the scholarship programme forms part of its broader contribution to educational development in Nigeria. Following the first edition launched in 2025, the company said it plans to expand the initiative in future academic sessions to support more students in public tertiary institutions across the country.
