Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and former Kano State Governor, has announced the emergence of former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, as the Kano NDC governorship candidate ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Kwankwaso also disclosed that former Kano APC governorship candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, would contest for the Kano Central Senatorial seat under the party’s platform.
The announcement, made late Thursday night, ahead of the party’s affirmation exercise, is expected to reshape the political landscape in Kano, especially following weeks of consultations and speculations over the party’s ticket arrangement.
According to Kwankwaso, the decision was reached in the interest of equity, fairness, loyalty, and competence, which he described as the guiding principles of the New Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
“I am delighted to announce that His Excellency, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has been selected as our Kano NDC gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming elections,” Kwankwaso stated.
He added that the party remained united and committed to sustaining the ideals of the Kwankwasiyya political movement as preparations intensify for the next electoral cycle.
Kwankwaso further prayed for a peaceful and successful affirmation process, expressing optimism that the party would record victory at the polls.
The development comes amid ongoing political realignments in Kano, with major political actors positioning themselves ahead of the next governorship and legislative contests.
