Former world heavyweight champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are edging closer to a long-awaited blockbuster “Battle of Britain” showdown after both fighters confirmed plans to return to the ring this summer.
Fury revealed he will make his comeback in Dublin on August 1, just one week after Joshua’s scheduled return bout against Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25.

The two British boxing stars are now on course for a potential heavyweight mega-fight later this year, with November emerging as the likely date for the much-anticipated clash.
Fury confirmed his return through an Instagram story showing the former champion back in training in Thailand alongside the caption: “Let’s go August 1, Dublin, Ireland.”
The opponent for Fury’s Dublin fight has not yet been officially announced. Still, promoter Frank Warren stated the “Gipsy King” would face a credible opponent and warned that there could be no room for complacency ahead of a possible showdown with Joshua.
“(Anthony Joshua’s) got to come through that fight, Tyson has to come through his, and then the big one will be in November,” Warren said.
Joshua’s return fight against Prenga will mark his first appearance since being involved in a tragic car accident in Nigeria in December that reportedly claimed the lives of two of his close friends.
The former two-time heavyweight champion will now look to rebuild momentum as he prepares for what could become one of the biggest fights in British boxing history.
Fury’s most recent outing came on April 11, 2026, when he secured a dominant points victory over Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov.
