The Dangote Refinery has reduced the gantry price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), also known as diesel, by N100, setting the ex-depot price at N1,700 per litre, up from N1,800 per litre.
According to the refinery’s communique sighted by petroleumprice.ng, effective May 27, the gantry price of diesel from the Dangote refinery will be sold for N1,700 per litre, following a N100 reduction.
However, on May 26, the refinery had adjusted depot prices of diesel by N200 to N1,600 per litre. But it retracted the announcement later on the same day.
Industry operators say the move is aimed at preventing losses among marketers and ensuring a fair adjustment across the supply chain.
The refinery’s reversal is expected to stabilise trading activities in the downstream sector, where sudden price changes can disrupt inventory planning and margins.
Energy analysts say the adjustment is a corrective step to balance pricing fairness with market stability as Africa’s most populous nation’s refining landscape continues to evolve.
