…Enjoins newly installed chiefs to be good ambassadors
Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa1) has appealed to Oyo State Government and all Local Government Councils in the state to profile the foreigners in Oyo State with the hope of returning those with the questionable character to their states of origin or prosecute them under the law of the land.
The monarch stated this during the installation of fourteen Mogajis and seven Baales at the Banquet Hall of Olubadan palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga, chief press secretary to Olubadan of Ibadanland in a statement quoted Oba Ladoja as saying, “It is worrisome the alarming rate at which people are being kidnapped, terrorised, maimed and killed nowadays.
Speaking through Oba Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola, the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Ladoja said: “I charge government at all levels, security operatives, traditional rulers and other security stakeholders to urgently tackle insecurity menace so that the law-abiding citizens can move freely and go about their lawful duties without fear of molestation, intimidation and being kidnapped.”
The paramount ruler however, admonished the newly installed chiefs to be good ambassadors of Ibadanland anywhere they may be, stressing that the era of traditional affluence had gone.
“Any installed traditional ruler must prepare to work assiduously for the unity, progress and development of Ibadanland.
According to the paramount ruler, one of your traditional duties is to guarantee the security of life and property of the people in your domains and Ibadanland at large.”
He appealed to the installed Mogajis and Baales to abstain from aiding and abetting the land grabbers, be personally involved in land grabbing or prepared to forfeit their traditional titles and face the full wrath of law.
Responding on behalf of the new chiefs, one of the newly installed Mogajis, Dada Olaniyi Aborisade of Talontan Awonjelogun Compound, Aremo, Ibadan, assured Olubadan and his council the determination of the new Mogajis and Baales to serve Ibadanland to the best of their ability.
Aborisade pledged that the new chiefs would abide with the traditional rules and regulations of Ibadanland.
