…Says ‘I am challenged to do more’
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday gave governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the party leadership pass mark, over the successes recorded in the ongoing party primaries.
The President, while assessing the processes so far, said their conducts excited him and has propelled him to do more for the country.
The President, while speaking to journalists at the APC’s presidential primary at Ward 4, Ikoyi, Lagos, after casting his vote, also expressed his excitement over the massive support he has received from Nigerians, especially his party supporters during the process.
Asked how he feels about massive support, the President said “I’m just excited. They challenge me more.”
He described the party primaries as a demonstration of internal democracy, adding that ” they have been going very well according to plan.
“This is politics, grassroots politics, where every member of the party has a right to participate and be involved. It’s to ensure that we have an internal democracy that is peaceful and well-organised.”

Recall that the party had adopted the option A4 which makes it mandatory for supporters to queue behind the aspirants of their choice.
The process, although had elicited mixed reactions from the aspirants and their supporters, has been viewed as more transparent and credible form of determining who eventually emerge as the party’s candidates at various levels.
The President who was joined by his wife, Oluremi, at the polling unit, expressed satisfaction with the process.
According to him, “Today, I am very satisfied, very, very satisfied that these governors, they’ve done well in their various states. From the ward congresses to local government congresses, to the delegate accreditation, validation, membership register, and certification of the electoral process, it has been all very well. At least, you will score democracy at a high level.”
The Presidential Primaries conducted at the 8898 Ward across the country, marked the end of the various primaries which began about one week ago with the primary for the selection of candidates for the House of Representatives.
During the week, the party also organised primaries for the states House of Assemblies, the Senate and governorship candidates.
