Ex-governor Dariye heads committee to harmonise Plateau-Tinubu engagement issues

The Plateau State Government has constituted a high-powered sub-committee to harmonise issues raised during the recent interaction with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of efforts to strengthen future engagements with the Federal Government.

The development was contained in a press statement signed by Joyce Ramnap, Commissioner for Information and Communication and made available to Journalists on Wednesday in Jos.

Recall that Plateau stakeholders led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang recently visited President Tinubu to discuss the persistent security challenges affecting communities across the state and seek stronger Federal Government intervention.

According to the statement, Governor Mutfwang inaugurated the committee on Tuesday at the Twin Theatre, New Government House, Rayfield, Jos, to articulate a coordinated framework for future discussions with the Presidency and relevant federal institutions.

“The initiative is aimed at articulating a coordinated framework for future engagements with the Presidency and other relevant Federal Government institutions in the overall interest of Plateau State,” the statement said.

It added that Governor Mutfwang mandated the committee to harmonise issues and concerns raised during the interaction with President Tinubu and develop a comprehensive agenda for future discussions and engagements with the Presidency and relevant Federal Government agencies.

Joshua Dariye, a former Plateau State Governor was named chairman of the committee, while Pauline Tallen, a former Minister, Sheikh Ghazali Ismail Adam, Jwan Zumbes,Sani Muazu and Gideon Para Mallam are among members.

Dariye’s appointment may not be unconnected with his previous roles in reconciliation and advisory assignments in Plateau State, where he was widely regarded as playing stabilising roles in political consultations and peace-building engagements across communities in the state.

Other members of the committee include Sani Suleiman Maigoro, Panmak Lere, Esther Gonda and Sumaya Hamza, while Julie Sanda and Joseph Lenmang will serve as the secretariat.

The committee has been directed to submit a detailed report and recommendations to the state government within seven days, as the administration expressed confidence in the members’ capacity and commitment to advancing the interests of Plateau State.
