Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest carrier, has temporarily disrupted its Lagos–London Gatwick service on Friday following the discovery of a minor technical fault during a routine post-boarding check.
In a statement released by the airline’s management, Air Peace confirmed that the fault was identified after passengers had already completed boarding.
Adhering to “uncompromising commitment to safety and global aviation standards,” the airline made the swift decision to withdraw the aircraft from service and disembark all passengers.
To mitigate the impact on its international clientele, the airline has activated a recovery plan.
The airline stated that a replacement aircraft is being dispatched from London and is scheduled to depart Lagos this morning.
In the interim, Air Peace provided all affected passengers with hotel accommodations and logistical support.
“At Air Peace, the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew will always take precedence over operational schedules,” the management stated, describing the preventive action as a responsible and necessary measure.
Air Peace remains one of the few domestic carriers currently operating long-haul international flights.
