Security operatives have arrested eight suspects in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old man, Nyamkyegh Mpalegh, who was reportedly buried alive in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

Kaase, a local source in the area, told BusinessDay in a telephone interview that the tragic incident happened at Tse-Bata Community in Mbakyagher Council Ward.

“We gathered that the deceased was allegedly attacked and severely beaten before the suspects buried him alive in a shallow grave, a development security personnel are still trying to unravel.

“Following reports of the incident, security operatives were immediately deployed to the community, leading to the arrest of eight persons suspected to have a link in the killing”, BusinessDay’s source said.

Also confirming the incident to BusinessDay, a security sources, who do not want his name mentioned, said the remains of the victim were later exhumed from the grave and taken to a Mortuary for autopsy.

He added that investigation is ongoing to uncover the reason behind the killing and to ensure every person linked to the dastardly act face the wrath of the law.

Efforts to get confirmation from Udeme Edet, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), failed as she was neither picking her calls, not replying to the text messages sent to her phone.
