Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, the Bauchi State governor, has declared the state safe and peaceful for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) undertaking their mandatory one-year national service.
Adamu Babayo Gabarin, the Commissioner for Youth and Sport and representative of the NYSC State Governing Board, delivered the governor’s remarks during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch A, Stream II corps members. The event took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
Abdulkadir described the NYSC as a “worthy partner in development,” noting that the scheme’s impact is visible across the state. He emphasised that the corps deserves consistent support due to its significant contributions to regional growth, particularly within rural communities.
The governor committed his administration to prioritising NYSC-related issues to encourage both management and corps members to exceed their current objectives. He further assured the scheme of sustained government backing to ensure its core goals are met effectively.
Abdulkadir congratulated the new intake for responding to the national call and reporting to camp promptly. While acknowledging the various challenges currently facing the country, he described these hurdles as momentary and surmountable.
Kufre Umoren, the NYSC State Coordinator, thanked the governor for his ongoing assistance to the scheme. He specifically highlighted the state government’s efforts in rebuilding damaged sections of the camp’s perimeter fence, a move that has significantly strengthened the security of both officials and corps members.
