The newly inaugurated Executive of the Bowen University Alumni Association, Iwo in Osun State, has unveiled plans to support institutional development through scholarships, mentorship programmes, and infrastructure development.
Speaking at the inauguration, Emmanuel Garuba, the pioneer President of the Alumni Association, described the event as a historic milestone in the institution’s history, saying the Association would serve as a bridge between Bowen’s legacy and its future aspirations.
He said, “We will establish and sustain scholarship schemes for indigent and deserving students, ensuring that financial limitations never stand in the way of talent and ambition. Beyond financial support, we will create structured mentorship programs that connect students and young graduates with experienced alumni across diverse fields, providing guidance, inspiration, and practical pathways to success. By sharing our knowledge, experiences, and networks, we will nurture a new generation equipped to thrive and to lead.
”In addition, we are committed to strengthening the physical and intellectual environment of our alma mater. We will support infrastructure development projects that enhance learning, research, and student life, modern classrooms, digital resources, innovation hubs, and conducive living spaces.”
Garuba noted that the Alumni Association also plans to strengthen global networking among graduates of the institution through strategic partnerships and platforms that create opportunities across borders.
He urged all Alumni of the University to actively participate in the Association by contributing their expertise, resources, and time toward the advancement of the institution.
In his speech, Jonathan Babalola, Professor and Vice Chancellor of Bowen University, identified Alumni Association as critical drivers of employment opportunities for graduates.
He prayed that the new Executive would achieve greater things during their tenure.
