Sterling Bank plc is sponsoring the annual Interior Designers Excellence Awards (IDEA) and Conference with the aim of promoting economic development.

IDEA is the most significant event in the year for practitioners in the architecture, interior design, real estate and construction fields and it rivals similar events across the globe.

The IDEA Conference attracts experts in the fields of brand development, business software enhancement, business finance and insurance and business mentoring. It is intended for an audience of practitioners and students with backgrounds in architecture, interior design, structural and construction engineering, building and building consultancy and asset management, infrastructure development, academics and suppliers.

Strategy, Abubakar Suleiman, executive director, finance and strategy, believes that backing up the event will help boost local production.

It had become obvious that the country could no longer sustain its huge dependence on imported goods and services and that more attention needed to be focused on encouraging local production. By encouraging local production, Sterling bank is promoting the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) thereby contributing to national economic growth, he said at a press conference in Lagos.

He said Sterling Bank has, over the years, consistently patronized local works.  “If you look around you will see that we deliberately patronize local works. Until you support local products you would not achieve most of the things that you want to achieve. We don’t have the resources in this country to continue to import all the things that we want need. So from supporting SMEs to backing national economic growth, we have many reasons for sponsoring IDEA 2015.”

This year’s event is scheduled to hold on the October 30, 2015 in Lagos. Promoters of IDEA We expect  attendance this year to be the highest ever, attracting over 2000 delegates, two keynote speakers and 10 panelists from Nigeria and beyond including Hong Kong, USA and Italy.

Some of the speakers expected at the event include, the Deputy Governor, Corporate Services Directorate, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Adebayo Adelabu, Past President of the International Federation of Interior Architects and Designers (IFI), Shashi Caan,   Executive Chairman, Philips Consulting, Folusho Phillips and  Brand Consultant, Leke Alder.
