Igor Tudor has left his role as head coach of Tottenham Hotspur after just 44 days and seven matches in charge, with the club confirming his departure by mutual consent on Sunday.

The 47-year-old was appointed in February following the dismissal of Thomas Frank but endured a difficult spell, losing five of his seven games across all competitions.

Short and turbulent spell

Tudor’s brief tenure failed to halt Spurs’ alarming slide, leaving the North London side hovering just one point above the Premier League relegation zone and out of contention for European qualification.

The club confirmed the decision in a statement, adding that it would provide an update on a new head coach in due course.

His departure also comes during a personal tragedy, having recently lost his father. Tottenham acknowledged the bereavement and extended support to the Croatian and his family.

Season unravelling for Spurs

Tottenham’s struggles predate Tudor’s arrival. The club has not won a league match since late December and has been eliminated from all cup competitions.

Despite winning the UEFA Europa League last season under Ange Postecoglou, ending a 17-year trophy drought, Spurs have regressed sharply and are now in a relegation battle.

Their current position represents a dramatic fall for a club that was a regular in the UEFA Champions League in recent years, including reaching the 2019 final under Mauricio Pochettino.

Fight for survival

With seven matches remaining, Tottenham now face a battle to preserve their Premier League status. They are locked in a tense relegation scrap alongside sides such as West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

Relegation would mark the club’s first drop from the top flight since 1977, an outcome that would send shockwaves across English football.

Spurs return to action in two weeks with a trip to Sunderland, by which time the club is expected to have clarity on its managerial direction.
