An unspecified number of residents have been killed following a late-night attack by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba community, located in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the assailants stormed the area at about 7:30 p.m., firing gunshots indiscriminately and sending shockwaves of fear across the neighbourhood.

The sudden eruption of violence forced many residents to flee for safety.

The attackers were said to have operated for several minutes, moving through parts of the community unchallenged before eventually escaping. Their actions left confusion and distress in their wake.

BusinessDay reports that in the aftermath, residents have been left struggling to identify victims, with the exact number of those killed yet to be confirmed. The situation remains unclear as families search for loved ones.

Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Plateau State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the telephone number of Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer was not available as of the time of this report.
