Grace AI Lab, a Lagos-based technology company, is entering Nigeria’s banking technology market with artificial intelligence tools designed to automate customer service operations and support compliance functions for financial institutions.

The company said its platform deploys artificial intelligence agents that handle customer interactions across channels such as WhatsApp, voice calls and web interfaces. These systems are designed to connect with a bank’s internal platforms, including core banking systems and card management infrastructure.

According to the firm, the technology uses multiple specialised AI agents to manage different banking tasks, including routine customer enquiries, transaction disputes, card services and loan-related requests. Issues that require human judgement are escalated to bank staff.

Divine Matthew, chief executive officer, Grace AI Lab, said the company is positioning the platform to help banks manage growing customer demand and modernise digital operations.

Matthew said the company is currently working with clients in the hospitality sector in Lagos and is in discussions with tier-one Nigerian banks about deploying the technology, although it did not name the institutions involved.

The company’s expansion into the banking sector comes as regulators in Nigeria increase focus on technology adoption in financial services. In March 2026, the Central Bank of Nigeria directed financial institutions to implement artificial intelligence-powered anti-money-laundering systems. The regulator asked banks to submit implementation roadmaps within 90 days and set an 18-month timeline for full compliance.

Grace AI Lab said it has developed fraud and compliance tools based on the same AI platform used for customer service, including systems designed to support alert reviews, investigations and regulatory reporting processes.

As banks in Nigeria continue to upgrade digital services, technology providers are increasingly offering tools aimed at improving operational efficiency and supporting regulatory requirements.

Grace AI Lab said its entry into the banking market is focused on providing automation and compliance solutions for financial institutions.
