The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with alleged attempted murder, malicious damage, and cult-related activities in Uruk Anam Local Government Area of the state,

The arrests, which followed a petition and intelligence-driven investigation, were carried out on March 20, 2026, at Ikot Asukpong Village, where operatives of the Command apprehended the suspects during a coordinated operation.

The suspects have been identified as John Samson, 45; Emmanuel Asuquo, 50; Idorenyin Umoh, 22; and Okon Akpan, 70.

Police said the operation led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol and two long guns, validating allegations of their involvement in violent and unlawful acts.

Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the command’s ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.

The statement assured residents that the situation in the area remains calm, with adequate security measures already in place to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

She said Baba Mohamed Azare, Commissioner of Police,  has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.

She said investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the process.
