Google is reorganising parts of its artificial intelligence division as the global race to define the next phase of AI intensifies, driven in part by a bold new vision from Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s CEO

The tech giant has begun reallocating engineers and resources away from its experimental browser-based AI agent project, known internally as ‘Project Mariner.’

The move signals a strategic pivot as Google reassesses where the future of AI innovation lies and at the centre of this shift is Huang’s growing influence on the direction of the AI industry.

During a keynote, the Nvidia chief spotlighted a new concept called ‘OpenClaw,’ describing it as a transformative framework for building more capable and autonomous AI systems.

Unlike earlier approaches focused on browser-based assistants, OpenClaw is designed to enable AI agents that can independently control computers and perform complex tasks across environments.

Huang has even suggested that such systems could become as foundational to computing as operating systems, urging companies to develop their own strategies around the technology.

The growing attention around OpenClaw appears to be reshaping priorities across the tech ecosystem.

Google’s restructuring reflects a broader industry trend, where companies are moving away from limited-use AI agents toward more flexible and powerful architectures capable of deeper automation and integration.
