…Says ministry is about meeting needs
David Oyedepo, presiding bishop, Winners Chapels, has urged young ministers in Christendom to embrace the life of service by serving their flocks.
“If you are not meeting needs, you are not a ministry. Ministry is about meeting needs,” he said during an apostolic convergence tagged ‘The SHIFT’ in Lagos.
Speaking on the topic, ‘Towards Emergence of Giants From The Covenant Platform of Servanthood,’ Oyedepo said that God does not reward leaders, but rather rewards labourers in His kingdom.
According to him, effective servanthood is what changes people’s status in the kingdom. He also urged the young ministers to be weary of big names and titles.
“God keeps our service records. It’s not titles and big names and big possessions,” he said, reminding the participants of their personal choice to serve in the kingdom.
“It’s not that you are gifted to serve. You choose to serve. Choose you this day whom you shall serve,” Oyedepo said.
According to him, the covenant of servanthood differentiate leadership in the secular and spiritual.
“Spiritual leadership is built on a covenant platform of servanthood. It is real servants that become great leaders in the kingdom,” he said.
Oyedepo also warned that pastors are not called to be lords over the flock. According to him, they are called to be servants of the Church. “Real servants are not bosses; it is servants that become great leaders in the kingdom.”
Akin Akinpelu, lead pastor, Eden Centre and convener, The SHIFT, said the convergence was aimed at apostolic depth and strategic clarity.
He also unveiled ‘The Agenda’, a book written as a working document for leaders who are serious about building with divine intelligence.
According to him, the next generation of leaders need more than motivation, hence the conference created spaces where direction, depth and belonging could be found in the same room.
“What I know is this: the work I have been doing, the movement we are building, and the word that was released over it today have converged into something that cannot be undone,” Akinpelu said.
He added that those in the conference room will go into the world carrying the impact of the ministerial convergence. “And that is exactly what The SHIFT was always meant to do.”
THE SHIFT is an apostolic conference intentionally designed to strengthen spiritual and visionary leaders, and release fresh direction over the Church and the nation.
The apostolic conference also aims to align pastors, ministry leaders, and kingdom-driven business leaders to their divine mandate.
The SHIFT also signals spiritual alignment and territorial influence across key spheres. “This is not just another meeting; it is a prophetic convergence meant to transform participants, foster strategic leadership, and inspire national and societal impact.”
Participants were also exposed to apostolic teaching, prophetic declarations, and practical leadership mentorship that equip them to advance God’s Kingdom purpose in every sphere.
