Mary Kristilere, the author of ‘Owning Your Season’ and ‘Your Daily Inspirational Dose’ has urged young Nigerians to passionately pursue their purpose for self fulfillment in life.

“Some people have tied their identity and purpose to marriage. They are waiting for marriage before they begin to live. But purpose is not postponed until marriage,” she said at the recent unveiling of the books in Lagos.

The first-time author described her experience with the launches of her first two books, as a 10-year journey of obedience and perseverance.

The first book, Owning Your Season: A 30-day Devotional for Singles focused on identity and purpose for unmarried individuals.

According to her, interactions with singles in ministry revealed gaps in understanding self-worth and purpose outside of marriage.

The second book, Your Daily Inspirational Dose, is a compilation of daily motivational and faith-based reflections that started on social media in 2016.

According to her, personal testimonies of people who followed her social media page influenced the compilation.

She recounted a defining moment when a woman reached out to her, saying one of her posts stopped her from taking her own life. “That was when I realized these messages needed to go beyond social media and reach more people.”

The author, who is the wife of Israel Kristilere, the lead pastor of Shepherdhill Baptist Church, Obanikoro, Lagos, also shared an emotional testimony about their marital journey, describing it as a story of God’s faithfulness rather than human perfection.

“Celebrating 29 years of marriage, my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. It is not because our journey was smooth, but because God has been faithful.”

Adebisi Ikotun, the book reviewer, said that the author delivered top-notch, profound, and inspiring insights to help believers live their lives intentionally under the guidance of heaven.

According to him, both books were written in parts to better convey the message of the author to the readers.

“It’s a book that inspires you to live intentionally. The book itself is an amazing compendium and compilation of 107 pages,”  Ikotun said, indicating that ‘Your Daily Inspirational Dose’ is a call to alignment with the will of God for believers.

“It’s a call to alignment of our thoughts, alignment of our decisions, and an alignment of our actions with the will of the Father,” he said.

Speaking on the second book, Ikotun said that being single does not mean hopelessness. According to him, the book was also written in four parts.

He described it as a 30-page devotional that will produce impactful and intentional meaning for singles and young couples.

“29 years of being married will produce a book that will serve as a guide for singles. It tells you that the beauty of your years in marriage is determined by the purpose that is infused in your single years,” Ikotun said.

According to him, the author presents intentional living, expressed through companionship with the Holy Spirit, which produces compassion in the life of the believer.

“Intentional living becomes an evidence of spiritual maturity. If you are a believer in Christ and you are maturing in the work of God, you will not live carelessly.”

According to Ikotun, the concluding part of the book makes it clear that intentional living is a daily choice for a believer. “It is rooted in spirituality, in practice of obedience, and absolute obedience and dependence on the Lord.”
