A fresh wave of defections hit the House of Representatives on Thursday with 12 members formally announcing their defection from their political parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The defections were announced during plenary on Thursday by Benjamin Kalu, the deputy Speaker, who presided over the session.
Of the 12, six moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. The defectors are James Barka, Kwamoti Bitrus Laori, Zakaria Nyampa, and Kobis Thimnu, all representing Adamawa State, along with Midala Balami representing Borno and Mohammed Bargaja from Sokoto.
Five lawmakers left the Labour Party and PDP for the ADC. One lawmaker moved from the Young Progressives Party to the ADC.

Peter Uzokwe representing Anambra moved from the Young Progressives Party to the ADC, while Afam Ogene, Peter Aniekwe and Lilian Obiageli Orogbu, all representing Anambra defected from the Labour Party to the ADC.
Jessey Onakalusi from Lagos State, Murphy Osaro representing Edo State moved from the Labour Party to the ADC.
Kalu said more lawmakers are set to also announced their defection coming days.
On Wednesday, five lawmakers defected from the PDP, LP to APC and according party, all citing prolonged leadership crisis and unresolved internal divisions within their various parties.
