President Bola Tinubu has reassigned Doris Uzoka-Anite to a new ministerial role, marking her third federal appointment in three years.
Uzoka-Anite, who previously served as Minister of State for Finance, is now the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning.
Her reassignment comes shortly after the nomination of Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, a position she vacated. In her new role at the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, she will work to coordinate the preparation and implementation of the national budget, and support policy planning aimed at driving Nigeria’s economic priorities.
Her ministerial journey under the Tinubu administration began in August 2023, when she was appointed Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment. She held that position for about one year and two months before the president reassigned her, with Jumoke Oduwole subsequently taking over the trade and investment portfolio.

Following that reshuffle in October 2024, Uzoka-Anite was moved to the Ministry of Finance as Minister of State, where she worked alongside Wale Edun, the coordinating minister to oversee aspects of fiscal policy, revenue administration, and public finance management.
A year and four months after Edun stated that her appointment would be crucial in improving existing economic measures, the president has transferred her to the ministry of budget and planning.
She will now serve under Atiku Bagudu as the state minister for planning and budget.
A development economist by training, Uzoka-Anite has held various positions in both the public and private sectors. Her academic background includes advanced studies in economics and development, providing her with expertise relevant to fiscal policy, economic planning, and public finance.
The repeated reassignments portrays the dynamic nature of President Tinubu’s cabinet adjustments.
The Senate will consider her appointment as part of the broader ministerial confirmations.
