Turkish giants Galatasaray have secured a financial windfall of over N85 billion (€53.5 million) following their dramatic progression to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

The milestone came on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, after the Istanbul side survived a tense second leg in Turin to eliminate Juventus 7–5 on aggregate.

The club had already earned €42.5 million from participation and performance in the group stage and playoffs, with the €11 million boost from Juventus marking a significant revenue milestone.

The Yellow-Reds now await either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16. A further progression would push total UEFA earnings this season to €66 million.

Central to Galatasaray’s success is Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen, who joined permanently from Napoli for a Turkish-record fee of €75 million last summer. The investment is paying dividends on the pitch: Osimhen is currently a frontrunner for the Champions League Golden Boot, with eight goals and seven assists this season.

The windfall marks a sharp rise from the club’s previous European campaign, when Galatasaray exited the Champions League qualifying playoffs against Swiss side Young Boys and later the Europa League Round of 16 playoffs against AZ Alkmaar, earning just €17.61 million in UEFA revenue.

Off the pitch, Galatasaray has spent €157.62 million across the 2025–26 transfer windows while generating €18 million in player sales, resulting in a net outlay of €139.57 million, ranking among the global top 10 for net spending.

The Istanbul side now turns its focus to Friday’s draw, where, as an unseeded playoff qualifier, the club is poised for a high-profile clash with one of Europe’s elite Premier League sides.
