The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 20-year old man for unlawful possession of a suspected human part.

Also, the Command arrested two suspects who allegedly robbed unsuspecting members of the public along Elebu-Oja, off Alao-Akala Expressway, Ibadan, recovering two toy pistols and some illicit drugs.

According to Ayanlade Olayinka, Deputy Suprintendent of Police and Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)
one Garuba Aminu, ‘M’, aged 20 years, on 20th February, 2026 at about 8:00 a.m., the suspect, who disguised as a scavenger at the Commercial Oroki Area of Oyo, was strongly suspected by vigilant members of the Community due to his strange movements and conduct.

“Acting promptly and responsibly, concerned residents subjected him to a search, during which a cut lower right leg suspected to be a human part was discovered inside a large sack containing waste plastic bottles in his possession.

“Upon receipt of the report, a Police joint patrol team, in collaboration with other security partners, swiftly rushed to the scene where an angry mob had gathered with intent to lynch the suspect. The team professionally dispersed the mob and rescued him from imminent harm, while the suspected human part was recovered as exhibit and secured for forensic and investigative purposes.

Ayanlade said the suspect had since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet and thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Command, he said appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for his continuous support and strategic leadership which had strengthened proactive policing and community partnership across the Country.

However, the Command wishes to inform the public of a successful operation following credible intelligence received from vigilant citizens regarding the activities of hoodlums who allegedly robbed unsuspecting members of the public along Elebu-Oja, off Alao-Akala Expressway, Ibadan.

Acting promptly on the information, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud Unit embarked on a targeted surveillance patrol in the area to apprehend the suspects and prevent further criminality.

During the patrol, two suspects identified as Elijah Teejay ‘M’, 21 years, and Ottu Emmanuel ‘M’, 33 years, were arrested. A search conducted on their person and belongings led to the recovery of two (2) toy pistols and some illicit drugs, which were immediately secured as exhibits for investigation. The swift response of the operatives prevented potential escalation of criminal activity and safeguarded the community.
