…Warns Gov Soludo on handling of Onitsha Main Market crisis
In the face of continuing confusion over the law on electronic transmission of election results, a petition had been fired to the United Nations (UN), EU, the US, and some other international bodies to save Nigeria’s democracy.
As the rage for non-passage of the bill on electronic transmission of result in real time cuts across the country, Eugene Ogu, a former chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), who holds the title of Apostle his church, has also petitioned the United States government and others over what he sees as a direct threat to Nigeria’s democracy by the National Assembly.
The Apostle, in a strongly-worded petition on Thursday, February 5, 2026, called on the United Nations, European Union and the entire international community to rise up and save Nigeria from the hands of “anti-masses political leaders”.
Earlier reports from the senate had said the highest lawmaking body had declined passage of the e-transmission of election results, a report that almost set the nation ablaze because the failure of BVAS in 2023 elections and the large doubt on the credibility of the presidential election that produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu to this day.
A section of the senate led by Ogbonnaya Abaribe however tried to show that work was still in progress and that the senate passed that elections be transmitted in real time.
Abaribe had said: “We want real-time transmission, and we are telling Nigerians to wait until they see the votes and proceedings. We are making the law clear and concise, so it is not open to different interpretations by the courts.”
The clergy in his petition to the international community warned against those he described as “political contractors in the National Assembly” to desist from setting the country on fire as any attempt to derail constitutional democracy would be firmly resisted by Nigerians.
This came on the heels of a section of northern Muslims rejection appointment of a Christian as chairman of the electoral body; and another threat from the north insisting on continuation of muslim-muslim ticket.
Ogu however said: “Nigerians may have endured massive looting of our country’s treasury by our politicians which is responsible for the poor standard of living standard resulting in lack of good road, poor power supply, lack of medical care, lack of quality education, lack of confidence in the judicial system, lack of security, no human rights freedom and high level of bribery and corruption in all sectors of the government, the National Assembly must not play games with the country’s democracy.

“Only a free and fair transparent legal electoral process with a compulsory electronic transmission of election results which is domiciled in the constitution is what Nigerians crave for, not what the fraudulent INEC that publicly lied to Nigerians that there will be an electronic transfer of results only to turn around to tell us that it’s not in the constitution”.
The cleric alleged that the refusal of Godswill Akpabio-led Senate to refuse to pass the e-transmission of election result in real time; “Is an invitation to rig the 2027 presidential election and fraudulently manipulate the will of the people”.
He called on the governments of the United States, United Kingdom, the leadership of the United Nations, European Union and lovers of democracy across the world to stand up against the anti-masses tendencies against the people of Nigeria.
“I call on the international community: the US, UN, EU and the leadership of such respected organizations as the NLC , TUC, NUC , NBA, NANS , ASUU , NASU, PFN , CAN to speak out now and do the needful to compel the National Assembly to pass the electronic transmission of election results in good time, into law.
“The international community should show sufficient commitment in the wellbeing of Nigeria by compelling the Nigerian government and the National Assembly to pass the bill into law as it will be the greatest gift and contribution any country can give to Nigeria or the National Assembly can bequeath to the people they represent.”
He appealed to foreign embassies not to honour the documentation of any politician by allowing them to travel out of the country for any purpose until they respect the will of Nigerians by passing the bill.
Ogu cautioned Akpabio, the Senate President, and the leadership of the legislative arm of government not to toy with Nigerians as the aftermath would be impossible to contain with, adding that INEC and the police should not be subjected to unwanted risk managing a tensed suspicious fraudulent electoral process in 2027.
“The president must understand that the greatest hero of Nigeria will not be who ruled the country, but who gave Nigeria a free and fair electoral process. I commend all the senators who stood up for the electronic transmission especially those who came out publicly to express their support for the will of Nigerians.”
He called on all the National Assembly members not to allow anyone to use them against the will of the people.
Meanwhile, the cleric has cautioned Gov Charles Soludo of Anambra State to adopt peaceful method over Onitsha Market stand-off.
Ogu said he was shocked with what he termed the arrogance and unconstitutional display of power by Gov Soludo who he said went around Anambra begging for second term, only to get it and turn around to shut down the Onitsha main market.
He said the governor claimed that the people’s expression of their right of protest once a week constitutes economic sabotage but; “You went ahead to unlawfully shut down the whole market for a week. You have joined the west to destroy the businesses of our Igbo traders because you think you do not need the people’s vote any longer”, Ogu said.
Ogu, the General Overseer of the Abundant Life Mission (ALEM), wondered in a statement he issued in Port Harcourt how the governor could declare the shutting down of the market for one week without considering the children of those struggling men and women that have no federal or state government support.
“Soludo, so this is how you want to destroy the image Onitsha people have built in you through their support? This is how you have chosen to show your might? This is how you have chosen to thank those who voted you to power?
“So, those in Abuja you are running errands for have decided to use you to inflict pains on your people.
“You have joined the persecutors of Igbo people, in the north we are persecuted same as in the west. Our people’s businesses are being burnt and destroyed and back home you, an Igbo man is busy shutting down their shops to please your masters.
He said Soludo was perceived to habour hatred for Igbo leaders for reasons best known to him. “I advise you to be very careful how you deal with our people and their only source of income”.
The cleric however advised the Anambra governor to tone down and stop threatening the people as they were there before he became governor and would be there after he left office.
He warned that the bees nest governor Soludo wants to stir could destroy the peace in Anambara State, stating that it has become obvious that Soludo wants to end his tenure by orchestrating another killings of the Igbos.
“Soludo, tread with caution before it’s too late. You should know the Igbos are not and will never be cowards that can be pushed around. Their decision to sit at home is their fundamental right as long as it’s their choice”, he said.
