Phillips Consulting Limited has conferred on Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the Bank of Industry (BoI) and Oyo State government awards for their outstanding website performances in aesthetic, site content development, web transactions tools, among others.

This is in its bid to contribute to the enhancement of corporate websites and increase consciousness of organisations in appreciating the value of well-articulated websites in digitally driven economy.

At the inaugural edition of Web Jurist Awards for Outstanding Public Sector Websites in Nigeria held in Abuja on Tuesday, the NBC won the best Aesthetic websites award in the category that had Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as fellow nominees.

While Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) won the best Web performance award, FRSC cart away the best customer experience award.

The BoI went home with best technical features award just as the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) was awarded the best public sector Web content award.

NBC, which also won the best Web accessibility award, was as well adjudged the firm with overall best website in Federal Government parastatals.

In the state government category, Oyo State won the overall best winner award having being declared the best technical event website award earlier.

Other winners in the state government category were Enugu (Best Web Performance), Osun (Best Web Content), Abia (Best Aesthetic) and Lagos (Best Customer Experience).

While given his opening remark, Foluso Phillips, CEO, Philip Consulting Limited, harped on the importance of internet in the areas of empowerment and enhancement of online business transactions.

“In 2014, Nigeria recorded 1.3 billion monthly transaction while the number of Nigerians who shop online has surged up to 64 million just as we on record the 271 billion worth of mobile transaction, these are clear indications of how the Internet has increased the power of communication, hence the need for public sector to up their games in the aspect of service delivery and interaction with clients using the internet.

Philip also opined that the increasing population of the country demands that there should be creation of opportunities through the emerging platforms provided by the internet.

“Studying the country’s demography will help the country prepares for the challenges the future holds for the country,” Phillips said

Oluwafunminiyi Ajao, senior special assistant to Oyo State governor on information and communications technology, who received Web Jurist award on behalf of the governor, expressed delight for organising the award stressing that the platform created by firm will help the public sector improve in the area of information and communication technology (ICT).
