Nanet Hotels Limited has issued a warning to investors, developers, and public authorities against any transaction involving Park No. 2008, Cadastral Zone A06, Maitama District, Abuja, citing ongoing court orders.

The notice, dated January 20, 2026, was signed by Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, and Segun Fiki, Esq., on behalf of the company. It applies to all lands and properties located on, derived from, or connected to the park, which covers approximately 1.96 hectares.

Nanet Hotels’ legal team, acting through Nairanet Technologies Limited, said the property is subject to an active suit before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja (Suit No.: FCT/HC/CV/5274/2025: Nanet Hotels Limited v. The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory & 2 Ors.). On December 22, 2025, the court granted an interim injunction restraining the FCT Minister, the FCT Administration, and other parties from interfering with Nanet Hotels’ possession of the property until the motion on notice is fully heard.

The notice states that no individual, institution, developer, or agency has lawful authority to sell, transfer, lease, mortgage, develop, or take possession of the land. Any transaction during the dispute is at the buyer’s risk and could expose them to legal action.

Nanet Hotels said it is ready to escalate the matter to the Supreme Court if necessary and urged all parties to refrain from dealings on the land. According to court records, the High Court, presided over by Hon. Justice Bello Kawu, also restrained defendants and their agents from enforcing the alleged revocation of Nanet Hotels’ rights, evicting, harassing, sealing, demolishing, relocating, or otherwise interfering with the company’s possession.

The Nigeria Police Force was directed not to assist in any dispossession.

Nanet Hotels asserts that under a Deed of Sub-Lease dated July 9, 2007, it is entitled to occupy the property until 2037 unless lawfully terminated. The Maitama property, also known as Maitama Recreation Park, is a key site used for outdoor and indoor events and recreation.

The notice follows a September 2025 letter from the FCT Administration claiming to revoke Nanet Hotels’ rights over the park, prompting the court action.

The interim injunction now protects the company’s possession and highlights the need for legal due diligence for anyone seeking to invest in disputed FCT properties.
