Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, Kano State Commissioner of Police, has assured residents of the state of comprehensive security arrangements for the Christmas and New Year festive period, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police.
According to Bakori, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, directed all Police Commands nationwide to ensure a safe, peaceful and crime-free Christmas and New Year celebration.
He disclosed this on Sunday, 22nd December 2025, during a strategic meeting with Operational Commanders, including Heads of Departments, Area, Squadron and Tactical Commanders, as well as Divisional Police Officers across the State.

During the meeting, the Commissioner of Police ordered intensified patrols, enhanced visibility policing, intelligence-led operations and sustained confidence-building engagements throughout the festive season.
Bakori assured residents that the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has put in place robust measures to safeguard lives and property before, during and after the celebrations.
Accordingly, he directed all Operational Commanders to ensure adequate security at worship centres and recreational facilities, conduct round-the-clock visibility patrols, maintain effective traffic control for smooth vehicular movement, and strengthen intelligence gathering ahead of and during the festive period.
The Command also issued important security advisories to the public, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons, movements or objects to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency numbers. Members of the public were advised to avoid carrying suspicious items to worship centres.
Motorists were cautioned against reckless driving, over-speeding and car racing, while underage children and unlicensed persons were warned against operating motor vehicles, tricycles or motorcycles. The Command also announced a total ban on unauthorised horse riding and the use of fireworks across the State.
Parents and guardians were advised to closely supervise and accompany their children during outings to prevent cases of missing persons, accidents or other related risks. The Police further warned individuals and groups to desist from any act capable of breaching public peace or disrupting law and order.

Bakori reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free festive celebration and called on residents to cooperate with security agencies for the collective safety of all.
