The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano State Command, has arrested two women for attempting to smuggle illicit drugs into the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Goron Dutse, Kano.
The incident occurred on Sunday, 21 December 2025 during routine security screening at the facility, a statement issued by Musbahu Lawan Knassarawa, Correctional Public Relations Officer (CPRO), stated.

The suspects—identified as Maryam Ali and Hauwa Musa, aged between 19 and 20 years, residents of Kano State were said to have been intercepted while trying to gain access to the custodial centre.
Knassarawa disclosed that the women were found in possession of suspected illicit drugs, which preliminary investigations revealed were intended for distribution to inmates within the facility.
He described the act as a serious violation of Nigerian Correctional Service regulations and a criminal offence under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, noting that consequently, the suspects have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
The Nigerian Correctional Service, Kano State Command, reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strict security measures, discipline, and zero tolerance for all forms of illegal activities within and around custodial centres.
The Command also urged members of the public to comply strictly with the rules and regulations governing visits to correctional facilities, warning that any breach will be handled in accordance with the law.
