All passengers were safely evacuated after an aircraft operating from Lagos to Enugu (registration 5N-BZN) experienced a nose-landing gear fault while landing on Runway 08 and became immobilised on the runway.

The incident, which occurred at about 19:10 hrs on Thursday, prompted the immediate deployment of emergency response teams to ensure the safety of all occupants and secure the aerodrome.

Henry Agbebir, director of public affairs and consumer protection at FAAN, said the airport’s emergency resources—including fire tenders and medical teams—were activated without delay.

“All passengers and crew were safely disembarked and evacuated to the terminal using the apron buses. Evacuation was completed without injury at 19:48 hrs. FAAN’s Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Services (ARFFS) were in position while the aircraft and airside were secured,” Agbebir stated.

FAAN said it will provide further updates to the public as more authoritative information becomes available.
