Prince George’s County, UAAB deepens economic ties with African Entrepreneurs

In a decisive move to expand African diaspora business opportunities, the United Africa Advisory Board (UAAB), in collaboration with Prince George’s County, Maryland, hosted the African Enterprise and Opportunity Exchange at the prestigious Metro Points Hotel, Lanham.

The high-level symposium, attended by the County Executive, Hon. Aisha N. Braveboy, brought together entrepreneurs, investors, and policy advocates to explore new trade and procurement pathways between Africa and the United States.

County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy, who inaugurated the session, emphasised that the initiative aligns with the “Elevate Prince George’s, One County United” vision to create inclusive prosperity. She noted that African entrepreneurs have been major contributors to local economic growth and deserve equitable participation in business opportunities.

Dr Jude Onyegbado, a respected philanthropist and advocate of economic empowerment, was among the distinguished attendees recognised for his strong contributions to the UAAB’s growth and vision.

The event also spotlighted Ambassador Dr Joy Davis, Co-Vice Chair of UAAB, and co-owner of Metro Points Hotel, whose commitment and resourcefulness have been pivotal to the board’s success. Alongside her, Amb. Lady Ono Achale, UAAB Vice Chair from Cameroon, and Amb. Dr Billy Okoye, the Board’s Chairman, reaffirmed their commitment to driving strategic collaboration in line with County Executive Braveboy’s mission of inclusive economic growth.

UAAB’s PRO, Amb. Hon. Chidi Ahaghotu, and Media Director, Amb. Ike Ogbuebile ensured broad media visibility, while Amb. Stanley Ogbumuo, the Liaison Officer, coordinated business-to-government interactions.

Vendors from multiple African countries exhibited their products and services at the venue, turning the symposium into a cultural and commercial showcase. Agencies of Prince George’s County pledged continued support for African-led ventures through advisory services, grants, and procurement inclusion, sealing what participants described as a milestone for African enterprise in America.
