30yrs of Growth: FGGC Oyo Class of ’95 celebrates with impactful donation

The Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Oyo Class of 1995 has given back to their alma mater.

They donated brand new dining furniture sets to the school as part of their 30th anniversary celebration with the theme: “30 Years of Growth & Grace”, inaugurated by the current president of the Class of 1995 – Dr. Oladebo Dapo-Ojo

The donation, presented during the group’s four-day pearl jubilee celebration, represents more than a symbolic gesture, it directly improves the daily lives of current students by transforming one of the school’s most central spaces.

The dining hall, now furnished with modern tables and chairs, offers a cleaner, more comfortable, and conducive environment for meals and social interaction, a welcome upgrade from the worn-out furniture that had served for years.

For the 650 students, mealtimes are now more than routine; they are moments of relaxation and camaraderie in a refreshed space that fosters unity and pride.

Teachers and school administrators say the gesture has significantly boosted student morale, reinforcing the sense of belonging that FGGC Oyo is known for.

Speaking during the presentation, the Chairman of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association, Engr. Olalekan K. G., praised the Class of ’95 for their thoughtfulness and foresight.

“Beyond the comfort these dining sets bring, your contribution teaches today’s students the importance of gratitude and giving back,” he said.

Highlights of the school events included the presentation of gifts to over 1,300 students and interactive sessions covering key areas such as general health and hygiene, cyber safety and digital footprints, abuse and security awareness, as well as financial literacy.

The activities concluded with prayers offered for the students’ success and well-being.

The reunion, which brought together alumnae from across Nigeria and the diaspora, was a blend of reflection, celebration, and renewal.

Members, including the Chairperson of the 30th Anniversary planning Committee, Dr. Olamide Thompson Odeneye, relived memories of their school days while reaffirming their commitment to supporting the institution that shaped their values and aspirations.

For the Class of ’95, the legacy project stands as a tangible expression of gratitude, a gift that bridges generations, enriches student welfare, and keeps the spirit of FGGC Oyo alive in both heart and hall.
