Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) head coach Luis Enrique is set to undergo surgery after suffering a fractured collarbone in a cycling accident, the French champions confirmed.

The 55-year-old Spaniard, a passionate cycling enthusiast, was treated by emergency services before being scheduled for an operation. PSG issued a statement wishing their manager a “swift recovery” but did not disclose the location of the accident.

Enrique, who guided PSG to their first-ever UEFA Champions League title last season, has also led the team to a perfect start in their Ligue 1 title defense with three consecutive wins.

PSG face Lens on September 14 before beginning their Champions League defense at home against Atalanta three days later.

Meanwhile, the club’s injury concerns deepened on Friday as Ousmane Dembélé limped off with a suspected right hamstring injury while playing for France in World Cup qualifying.
