…Over 1,500 winners emerge in Mega Billion Promo

MTN Nigeria has empowered over 1,500 of its customers with cash prizes totaling more than N290 million in its ongoing Mega Billion Promo, reaffirming the company’s commitment to rewarding loyalty and enriching lives.

The announcement was made recently, during a live show event in Lagos, where the telecom giant shared updates on the growing number of winners and the impact of the initiative.

Speaking at the event, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, chief marketing officer at MTN Nigeria, highlighted that the promo was designed as a way to give back to customers amid challenging economic times. “In the last couple of years, it’s been a very tough time for the average Nigerian. And as a company that is committed to making our customers’ lives better, we consistently look for ways to achieve this. This Mega Billion promo is one of such initiatives,” she said.

According to Ikenna-Emeka, the promo has produced over 1,500 winners so far, including three jackpot winners, 20 five-million-naira winners, and more than 100 winners of one hundred thousand naira. With over N290 million already disbursed, the figure continues to rise as the promo progresses. “We are extremely excited and proud of the visibility, excitement and the energy that has been created by this promo. Being here today is a testament to the progress we’ve made,” she added.

The event provided attendees with a closer look at the structure and transparency of the campaign. It was attended by members of the press, representatives of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority, MTN executives, and promo winners.

One of the jackpot winners, Femi Yusuf, who took home N10 million, shared his experience, describing his initial disbelief and eventual joy. “I feel very happy. Initially, I thought it was one of those promos that nothing comes out of it. Then, I watched the live draw,” he said. Yusuf confirmed that the promo was both transparent and swift, noting that he did not need to go the extra mile to win.

Providing more insights into the mechanics of the promo, Debo Agun, senior manager, Consumer Segment at MTN Nigeria, explained how it works. “Typical promos in Nigeria, customers are made to pay for it. But for this promo, there’s nothing like that. All that is required of you as a customer is to dial *900#. This is for you to opt in and also a form of consent. The promo runs for a period of 90 days,” he said.

Agun noted that 63 winners are selected daily from Monday to Friday, with both daily and weekly draws held. Daily prizes range from N25,000 to N5 million, while Saturdays are the biggest days, featuring 104 winners and a N10 million jackpot.

MTN also emphasised that the promo is managed by independent partners to ensure fairness and credibility in the selection process.
