The Rotary Club of Ikeja, the oldest in Rotary International District 9111, is set to install Rotarian Olanrewaju Kuburat Lawal as its 58th president on Sunday, 27 July. The ceremony will take place at Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.
Lawal, a Chartered Accountant, currently heads the Finance and Accounts Department at the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget. She joined the club in 2015 and has served in various leadership roles within both the club and the district.
According to a statement by Rotarian Segun Adebowale, chair of the installation’s media and publicity sub-committee, the event will also include the induction of the club’s board of directors for the 2025–2026 Rotary year and a fundraising session for upcoming community projects.
The managing partner at Verraki Partners, Mr Olaniyi Yusuf, is billed to serve as a guest speaker. At the same time, the royal father of the day will be His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Ajibola Aderohunmu Babalola (Yalumo Korewolu III), the Onijale of Ijale Papa Kingdom.
Speaking ahead of the installation, Lawal outlined several initiatives already underway for the Rotary year, aligning with Rotary International’s seven areas of focus: peace building and conflict prevention, disease prevention and treatment, water, sanitation and hygiene, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic development, and environmental protection.

“In early July, we held a microcredit empowerment scheme for traders in Obada Market, Isolo. Loans were provided to support their businesses and will be passed on to new beneficiaries once repaid,” she said.
Lawal also highlighted the club’s ongoing support for the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) Vocational Training Centre, noting the donation of sewing machines, hairdressing kits, and cooking equipment to ten recent graduates.
Reflecting on one of the club’s key projects, she said: “Last year, we donated a vocational building to Ikeja Junior High School. This year, we plan to equip it for skills training in barbing, electrical work, fashion design, catering, and more—ensuring students leave school with employable skills.”
In recognition of July as Rotary’s Maternal and Child Health Month, Lawal added that the club recently visited the Ojodu Primary Health Centre, engaging mothers on childcare best practices and donating baby formula and other essentials.
“We also plan to install a water-generating facility in a community this year,” she said. “These are just a few of the impactful projects we’ve lined up.”
