Oluwasoromidayo George is a top-performing Director of Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Business with extensive experience in sustainable business and development, corporate social responsibility (CSR), corporate communications, external relations, policy advocacy, campaign planning and implementation.

She has proven track record of spearheading innovative initiatives within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Sector (FMCG) and non-profit organizations, developing strategies to help reposition companies to maintain growth within a sustainable development framework.

She is highly skilled in communicating with executive teams to outline overarching strategies, policies, procedures, and best practices. ‘Soromidayo is adept in evaluating operations within corporate and sustainable business to identify inefficiencies and redundancies, implementing strategic process improvements for optimized workflow, cost savings and successful external facing initiatives.

She is currently the Director, Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Business for Unilever, Ghana and Nigeria and has prior working experience in sectors cutting across banking and non-profit organisations. In this role, she designs the strategy and drives the execution of the sustainable business, corporate communications and external relations agenda for Unilever in Ghana and Nigeria.

She continues to bring value to the business through policy advocacy linked to operational cost savings, strengthened relationships with key stakeholders and enhanced employee productivity through communications. She implements issue based stakeholder management strategies and designs sustainable business strategies that have considerably changed the landscape of the impact of social missions within the organisation.

‘Soromidayo’s focus is not only to maintain the quality of the value she is bringing on board across her professional portfolio in Unilever, but to also shape and implement a sustainable business model, where brands that create socio-economic value serves communities in emerging markets.

She consistently ensures that impact is achieved both commercially for the business and socially, within beneficiary communities and projects.

‘Soromidayo was the first female Executive Director of the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATN Foundation) and Head of Corporate Affairs, British American Tobacco (BAT) in West & Central Africa.

She is the co-founder of the Corporate Social Responsibility and Governance Institute.

‘Soromidayo is a member of AIESEC Nigeria, Board of Advisors, a member of the Advisory Board of the Common Wealth Women Business Network, a Fellow of the WIMBOARD Institute, a WIMBIZ/IE University, Madrid Executive Education Programme for Women on Boards, and a member of the Forum For Inclusive Nigerian Development. She was also appointed as the Chairperson of the UN Global Compact Local Committee in Nigeria.

George was Head, Corporate Affairs, BAT West Africa Area and Executive Director BATN Foundation. She headed the Corporate Affairs units which was made up of Corporate Communications (including media management), Sustainability & Corporate Social Investment for West and Central Africa. She was also the Executive Director of BATN Foundation.
