Subomi Plumptre

Subomi Plumptre has a 20-year+ career in strategy, investments and social entrepreneurship. She is a co-founder of the private equity companies, Volition Capital Investments Limited (Nigeria) and Volition Blue LLC (USA). She is also a knowledge brand at Subomi Plumptre Inc.

Prior to that, she led the corporate practice of Alder Consulting, a leading creative intelligence firm. At Alder, she consulted on idea development, business strategy, brand development and social media strategy. She is a Hootsuite Certified Professional and an Associate of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).

With an academic background in analytical reasoning, scientific investigation and practical research, Subomi was a team lead for Alder on diverse government and corporate projects including the educational sector transformation plan of the Federal Ministry of Education, the reform programme of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the restructuring of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. She was a strategy team lead for branding programmes for the British Council, First Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank.

Subomi has a wide range of interests. She is an avid investor and was named one of 20 African Women to Watch in Blockchain by Cryptocoin News. In recognition of her writings on investing, she was appointed a corporate wealth representative for Stanbic IBTC and Meristem Securities.

Plumptre has received awards for leadership, music composition and writing. She is an avid blogger at www.subomiplumptre.com and is an author of a published collection of poetry and essays titled, Unscripted. She is well traveled and has conducted cultural studies in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.
She set up the Subomi Plumptre Trust to execute social entrepreneurship projects focused on Opportunity, Culture and Freedom. She is a member of the Board of Trustees for The Leke Alder Foundation and Peter Adegoke Foundation. She is also a member of the Governing Board of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI) and contributed to the NLI White Papers, a collection of policy papers on Nigeria.

The Nigeria Leadership Initiative is a platform for credible, accomplished and uniquely patriotic Nigerians to develop and express values-based leadership skills with the aim of assuming an active role in developing Nigeria. Fellows are members of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

On the Governing Board, she advises on brand and social media issues and serves on the Projects Committee.

Plumptre is also a Director at Venia Group. Venia Technologies uses technology to solve complex African problems. The company is the brain behind Auto Genius, Nigeria’s first mobile and online insurance comparison platform, and she advises on brand strategy issues.
