Annette Fisher, Founder/Chair Let’s Build

Annette

Annette Fisher is a practicing international British/Nigerian architect. Her practice, FA Global operates in London and Lagos. She started her career working for commercial UK practices, TP Bennett, Rolfe Judd and Whinney Mackay Lewis before setting up her own practice in the capital in 1994.

Now, her mission and ambition are to use her skills, privilege, position and experience to motivate others to greater heights, and transform other people’s lives. She and her team are spearheading a global mass low cost housing project starting in Nigeria to meet the 25 million housing deficit; and a major UK project showcasing women and minority architects.

She’s a former RIBA Vice President, nominated presidential candidate 2002 and council member. Annette was the first black woman to be elected to RIBA Council in 1999. She’s also Commonwealth Association of Architects Trustee and Alternate Regional VP Europe and partner FA Global.

She’s also part-time professional RIBA part 3 Tutor at Westminster University, London.
Fisher has practiced in the UK, USA and Africa. In the early years, she worked for major London practices TP Bennett, Rolfe Judd and Whinney Mackay Lewis.

After working for three years in America, she was co-founder of the Littler Fisher Partnership, London, which split three years later and in 1997, Fisher Associates Limited was formed, now FA Global.

In 2008, she took a year out as Director of Health and Education at TP Bennet Architects overseeing procurement of public sector projects and their delivery in the health and Education sectors.

More recently, she started Let’s Build, an initiative that celebrates the achievements of diverse architects, their work and clients through a series of televised evening events sponsored by RIBA, Yanga TV, and Places or People.

Annette is driven by her passion for shaping the built environment and especially using it to transform lives.

“Annette designed and helped us build one of the finest amateur rugby sports pavilions in the country. She spent considerable time ensuring that she fully understood the brief and delivered a building that is innovative, ahead of its time and admired by all who use and visit the facility” said Former OASA Chairman.
