Akaelu Steven Ebuka aka Steve Chuks has gradually carved an niche for himself in the fiercely competitive Nigerian showbiz industry.
Steve Chuks is a 23- year old online content creator who puts smiles on people’s faces with his craft about women and how they usually react to different situations.
He has been doing comic videos since 2013, even before social media skits became very popular.
Social media platforms like Instagram made it easier for Steve Chuks to grow, but with his versatility, he had to take time to discover what people were interested in.
Fortunately for him, he discovered his alter ego, Cleopatra – a very classy woman.
”I love when people are classy; I grew up watching people like Eucharia Anunobi and Genevieve Nnaji. They are always very classy in their movies. I wanted to imitate a character like theirs and also make it funny; that was why I decided to give Cleopatra’s character her dramatic walk.
I get inspirations for my skits basically from things that happen around me; I am very observant. I have about 1,000 characters in my head; I try to make skits about things I have seen before,” he revealed why his crafts are centered on women.
Wondering how the Anambra State born Comedian gets the feminine clothes he often use for his skits, he says, “I use my sisters’ and my mum’s clothes; I do not have to buy the clothes I use for my skits. My mum is my brand manager; she tells me what to wear and how to wear it.”
Now a successful entertainer and content creator, the UNILAG graduate says popularity doesn’t come without challenges.
According to him, there were certain prices he had to pay to attain the position he is enjoying now, hear him: “Honestly, I’d say the major challenge I encountered was getting people to love my contents, the consistency and then keeping up with engagements. That’s why I would advice young people out there trying to be like me to first of all be certain that they have passion for what they are doing then consistency and hard work is a must to attain any level of success.”
