Despite the strike embarked upon by National Assembly workers, the Senate commenced sitting on Tuesday amidst tight security.
This comes as lawmakers say they are ready to receive President Muhammadu Buhari to present the N8.73 2019 budget by Wednesday.
However, banks and eateries remained closed, as security men only allowed lawmakers, legislative aides and journalists into the Complex.
Although only six lawmakers were initially seated, Senate President Bukola Saraki walked into the chamber at exactly 12:10pm accompanied by Deputy Monitory Whip, Emmanuel Paulker.
He then waited for 22 more minutes for the house to form a quorum before plenary commenced. However,plenary only lasted for 37 minutes.
At the session, Saraki read a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari on his intention to lay the the 2019 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly by 11am.
In another letter, the President faulted the approval of promissory note programme by the upper legislative chamber, saying it was at variance with his earlier request.
The Senate also asked its Committees on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters and Police Affairs to investigate the rearrest of rights activist, Deji Adeyanju by the police and report back in one week.
This followed a motion moved by Dino Melaye.
