Ex-PDP publicity secretary, Metuh collapses in court

Former National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, Monday morning, collapsed as he made his way to the dock at the Federal High Court, Abuja, where he is standing trial for money laundering offences.
Metuh is being tried for allegedly collecting N400m, through his company, Destra Investment Limited, from the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) without any visible contract from the agency.
Metuh is standing trial before Justice Okon Abang.
Metuh’s trial continued on Monday, with the defendant brought in an ambulance.
Shortly after appearances were announced, Metuh was called to the dock. As he was walking towards the dock, he collapsed.
Metuh is said to be suffering from spinal cord injuries and has appeared in court on a stretcher several times.
The court has denied him leave to travel abroad for treatment three times.
Metuh is standing trial on a seven-count charge filed against him and his company by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the prosecuting agency.
The said offences are said to have breached Section 15(2), (d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 as amended in 2012 and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same Act”.
